Orphan Grain Train Workday is August 25, 2018

The Orphan Grain Train has recently opened its 25th and newest warehouse at 911 W Maple in Wichita, Kansas. The warehouse is opened on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 AM until 2 PM. The purpose of Orphan Grain Train is to enable God’s people to share their personal and material resources, which are then packaged and sent to over 66 countries including the U.S. The warehouses receive items from individuals, thrift stores and local shops in the area. Sometimes, these items come in by the truckload. These items then need to be sorted into groups by sizing, gender and type. Price tags need to be removed. Once sorted, items are packed for shipping.

The LWML Oklahoma District would like to send a group of ladies (or men) to work in the warehouse on Saturday, August 25, 2018. We will work from 10 AM until 2 PM. Please bring a box lunch with you. If you prefer, you can send out for fast food in the surrounding area. Betty Amey, at the Warehouse, said bottled water can be provided.

For those who would like to caravan to the warehouse, we will meet at Zion Lutheran Church (504 S Knoblock St) at 7:00 AM in Stillwater. We will plan to leave for Wichita between 7:15 and 7:30AM. The drive from Stillwater takes 2 hours and 20 min. which allows for 1 short bathroom stop. We would leave Wichita at 2:00PM to head home.
